228 pages written by Didier Mayemba, carrying onto the goalkeeper’s position what the company has been working on since 2006: movement before gesture.

Méthode Mayemba

Goalkeeper Edition

In 2016, a university dissertation set out the founding thesis: a goalkeeper has the same fundamental abilities as a breaker. Two UEFA B licences, hundreds of sessions on the pitch and years of experiment later, the Mayemba Method was born of that evidence.

This book is not a technical manual. It is the story of a transformation: that of a goalkeeper who discovers that movement always precedes gesture, that the body understands before the mind, and that performance is born first of the quality of movement.

It was born of a hard fact on the ground: in amateur football, the goalkeeper’s position is still the one that gets the least specific time. Resources are counted, slots are limited, coaches trained for the position are still rare. And yet it is of her that the most is expected.

Because before being a position, goalkeeping is an art of movement. Back cover

What is inside

Five pillars, forty-seven chapters

The book moves through fourteen parts. Five of them stand on their own: they are the pillars of the method, built one spread at a time.

  • What mattersWhat a goalkeeper looks at, and in what order — from distant danger to the one-on-one, then the restart.
  • 49/51 · Ready at the right momentA state, not a stance: committed and available at once. “She was not slow. She was not ready.”
  • The extension of the handThe glove extends the hand; the hand extends the movement. Ten acts on gesture, sensation, equipment and endurance.
  • The body protects the mindYou do not lose your technique first: you lose your availability first. Confidence is a consequence, not a starting point.
  • L’ÉVIDANSE — the proofSix phases, from the ground to the flight, where dance and the save turn out to be the same body. This is where the book meets the stage.

Around these five pillars: planning, prevention, nutrition, performance psychology, video analysis, a solo programme without a coach, club implementation, certification, a multilingual glossary. And seven breathing spreads, which prove nothing and simply let you look.

A spread from the book: a goalkeeper standing and a dancer suspended, superimposed in the same light. A spread from the book: a four-step chronophotograph of a dive, from the ground to the flight. A spread from the book: a goalkeeper in horizontal flight, arms stretched towards the ball, on a night-blue ground.

Three editions

The same book, in three languages

French, Swedish, English. The three editions share the same pagination, the same images and the same spreads: a club in Linköping and a club in Sarcelles work from the same object, page for page.

Support

Putting the book in their hands

Contributions pay for two things: printing the three editions, and equipping amateur clubs and under-resourced structures — those with no specific coach for their goalkeepers. Close to seventy goalkeepers have been supported since 2021; a book reaches where one person cannot.

Payments are handled by Qonto, to the benefit of LA CIE MAYEMBA — the company itself. No banking data passes through this site. Credit cards and iDEAL accepted. Each amount is fixed: for another sum, support in kind or a partnership, write to us.

Tax receipt

La Cie Mayemba is a declared non-profit association under the French law of 1 July 1901. Every donation is receipted.

A donation gives nothing in return: that is what distinguishes it from an order or a pre-order of the book.

Where the book stands

The book is written, typeset and ready to print: 228 pages, in three languages. What remains is the longest part — gathering the means to print it and put it into circulation. That is the project under way, and what the contributions are for.

Supporting distribution is not ordering a copy. The contributions above are donations: they pay for printing and for equipping clubs, with nothing given in return. They are not an order and give no right to a copy being sent.

No price and no publication date have been settled to date, and this site will announce none before they are. To be kept informed, to reserve a copy or to consider an order for a club, write to the company.
